Civil and Environmental Engineering
CE 204 - Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
Catalog description

Team project-oriented course. Practical applications of fluid
mechanics principles through laboratory exercises and field trips.

Corequisite: CE 203
Who takes it
Usually undergraduate students from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Science during the junior year.
What it's about

Specific learning objectives of this laboratory course are to:

  • Illustrate the physical concepts of fluid flows and introduce students to experimental techniques for fluid mechanics
  • Foster self-reliance required for open-ended experiments and reduce dependence on a cookbook approach
  • Develop the ability to design, conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data
  • Encourage creativity in the use of experimental apparatus and data-acquisition
  • Develop the ability for team work
  • Develop effective communication of technical information
